anatomy mantle longitudinal section laticifers diameter

unit: µm

Latificers can sometimes be seen in the mantle of longitudinal sections; they can be discerned as very thick hyphae in comparison to the normal mantle hyphae, either cross cut or sectioned oblique or over a longer distance. Only those latificers can be discerned as being such hyphae if their diameter is considerably larger or if latex contents are present. A range of values should be determined, e.g. 5-10(-10) µm; the value in parantheses stands for an exceptional dimension. (For the determination process with DEEMY the exceptional values cannot be included). These measurements are of subordinate importance because the measurements can best be taken from mantle preparations.
