ecology knowledge about association with foreign fruitbodies presence

For some ectomycorrhizal fungi it is known that they often grow in very close association. For some of them it is proven that there is a special relationship with respect to the ectomycorrhizae, e.g. Gomphidius roseus with Suillus bovinus (A) and Rhizopogon spec. with Chroogomphus helveticus (B). In other cases they appear as parasites on fruitbodies (C), for others to date no relation with respect to the mycorrhizae is proven (e.g. Amanita muscaria with Boletus edulis (D) and Amanita muscaria with Chalciporus piperatus (E), although their fruitbodies are quite often rather closely associated.
