Laticifers are characteristic for ectomycorrhizae of Lactarius species. In most species, lacticifers of fresh ectomycorrhizae can be seen as distinct veins through the mantle. In a few species, they cannot be discerned – due to their thinness or the the scarcity of their latex – as it is true of ectomycorrhizae of any other fungal genus. |
